  • End of term

Thu 28 Mar 2024 Mr Hopkinson

Well done to all the children for another fantastic term. It has been a very busy term with lots of exciting internal and external activities and events taking place, and I would like to thank you all for your ongoing support with this - it really does make such a positive difference!

I hope you all manage to spend some quality family time together over the Easter holiday and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday 15th April.

  • More rugby fun and marking World Downs Syndrome Day

Fri 22 Mar 2024 Mr Hopkinson

It has been a busy week at Ordsall!

The school took 14 girls from years 5 and 6 to participate in another tag rugby festival at Newark Rugby Club. We had two teams with each team playing five games, winning three, drawing one and losing one. The girls played some fantastic rugby and really grew into the event as it went on - well done girls!

In school, every child has planted a sunflower to mark World Downs Syndrome Day 2024, with five sunflowers being selected from each class for our school councilors to plant in the school grounds. Each class took park in an assembly and discussions to raise awareness and we will be holding a fundraising event for this in the summer.

  • Tag rugby festival

Fri 15 Mar 2024 Mr Hopkinson

This week I was lucky enough to accompany some of our years 3 and 4 children to a tag rugby festival at Newark Rugby Club. We took 13 children to form two teams and each team took part in six matches.

All the children performed incredibly well, showing some brilliant handling skills and agility, as well as representing the school as we would expect with their fantastic behaviour.

Check out some of the action shots below!

  • World Book Day

Fri 08 Mar 2024 Mr Hopkinson

On Thursday 7th March, all the children in school took part in World Book Day by coming to school dressed to represent a word. We do this as an opportunity to expose children to a broad range of new and interesting vocabulary and, of course, to have a fantastic time!

Many of the outfits and ideas were very creative and original, and I would like to thank everyone for their support in taking part in this day.

During the day, the children took part in a live, online assembly with author Ian Eagleton, writer of Glitter Boy, as well as other book-related activities.

  • Children represent school at basketball festival

Fri 01 Mar 2024 Mr Hopkinson

Some of our Year 5 children had the opportunity to take part in a basketball competition this week at Retford Oaks Academy. The children had a fantastic time and we are so proud of how they represented our school!

Despite a spirited performance from all of our children, we came up against some incredibly difficult competition and finished 5th out of the 7 schools. Well done Team Ordsall!
