  • Garden Renovation

Fri 23 Feb 2024 Mr Hopkinson

Welcome back to the second spring term!

Over the half term, our garden behind the Phase 1 buildings has undergone a complete renovation. Uniper, which is a utility company that operates a number of sites in the local area, most notably Cottom power station, kindly offered to support our school by renovating the Phase 1 garden for us as part of their community commitment.

During February half term they sent in their groundwork team who did an amazing job of rebuilding the broken raised beds, renovating the dilapidated shed and jet washing all the paths, slabs and tarmac areas. They cleared and cut back the beds, borders and trees and purchased some nice new benches and garden tools for the children to be able to work in the garden.

Finally, as a generous parting gesture, they delivered to us a brand-new greenhouse in time to start some spring planting.

I am sure you will agree that it looks fantastic!

  • Snow, snow go away!

Fri 09 Feb 2024 Mr Hopkinson

Well, yesterday's snow was definitely not on the agenda of planned activities for this week. Thank you for everyone's cooperation whilst we sent children home slightly earlier - it is greatly appreciated!

We have come to the end of the first spring term, and although it was a short one, we have managed to pack lots of fun and learning into it. Please refer to this term's newsletter for details about what each year group has been up to.

    Have a great break everyone!

  • Space Wonderdome visits Ordsall

Fri 02 Feb 2024 Mr Hopkinson

As part of Year 5s learning this half term they have been learning that Earth is known as the ‘goldilocks’ planet due to our surroundings being just right for many life forms to thrive. Throughout this, they have been focusing on things in our solar system and were fortunate enough to spend some time this week looking at this in incredible detail in the Space Wonderdome!
