School Uniform
At Ordsall Primary School, we believe wearing a school uniform helps build a sense of identity, belonging and pride. Just as many professionals wear a uniform to represent who they are and where they work, our school uniform shows that we are part of a community that plays, learns and grows together every day.
Our uniform ensures that children are dressed appropriately, safely and ready to learn. We encourage all pupils to wear their uniform with pride and to be proud of being part of Ordsall Primary School.
We have designed our uniform policy to provide families with flexible and affordable options. Uniform items can be purchased from a wide range of retailers, including high street shops, supermarkets, charity shops and second-hand providers. Uniform items do not need to feature the school logo—branded options are entirely optional.
Everyday Uniform (Required Items)
- White polo shirt (with or without school logo)
- Red sweatshirt or cardigan (with or without school logo)
- Dark coloured trousers, shorts or skirt
- Dark coloured shoes
- Optional: Red gingham summer dress (warmer months)

PE Kit (Required Items for PE Days)
- Plain white t-shirt (with or without school logo)
- Black, blue or grey tracksuit bottoms or shorts
- Black, blue or grey sweatshirt or hoodie (no team wear or large logos)
- Socks and trainers
Jewellery and Personal Appearance
For health and safety reasons, we operate a simple and safe approach:
- One pair of stud earrings
- One ring
- One item around the wrist (e.g. watch or bracelet)
All jewellery must be removed for PE. If a child wears earrings, these must be removed by the child or parent/carer on PE days.
Make-up and Nails
To ensure safety, hygiene and age-appropriate expectations:
- Children must not wear make-up to school.
- Fake nails, acrylic nails, gel nails or nail extensions must not be worn.
- Nail varnish should not be worn.
These items pose significant health and safety risks, can cause injury during play or PE, and are not suitable for primary-aged children.
Other Personal Items
- Smartwatches with messaging or internet capabilities must not be worn in school—simple digital or analogue watches only.
- Hair accessories should be simple and in school-appropriate colours.
