a difference to pupils and staff.

OFSTED Inspection 2022

"I would just like to thank each and everyone of the staff at Ordsall Primary School for their outstanding commitment to our children's education and well-being, particularly during this challenging last year." (Phase 2 Parent)

Who is on our Governing Body?

Wendy Abraham

Area of responsibility: Chair, QA of Head Teacher Appraisal, Complaints, and Phase 1

Appointed: Parent governor July 12th 2018

Member of: Joint Committee and the Full Governing Body

I have been governor at the school for over 4 years now. I have 2 children both of whom, have attended Ordsall Primary. I am a primary school teacher of 15 years, leading EYFS and EAL provision.

Richard Chapman

Area of responsibility: Headteacher

Appointed: 31st October 2016

Member of: Joint Committee and the Full Governing Body

I have been a teacher for over 30 years and a head teacher for over 20 years, and I have had the privilege of being the Head Teacher at Ordsall Primary School since January 2017. Outside school I love listening to, and performing music, and watching and participating in sport. As the head teacher of the school, I work closely with the governing body to keep them informed about the priorities that we set for the school, and the progress we are making towards achieving them. As part of the governing body, and the school’s leadership, it is my aim to give every child who attends our school high quality opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding that they need to become the best that they can be and be prepared for the next stage of their education and life in the 21st Century.

Fiona Bailey

Area of responsibility: Phase 2, Health and Safety, Monitoring visits, Website

Appointed: Parent governor 22nd May 2017

Member of: Joint Committee and the Full Governing Body

I have been a Governor at Ordsall Primary for 8 years. I have 3 children, two have been through all of their primary education at Ordsall and one is currently at the school in Year 4.

I have been a Primary school teacher for 22 years currently leading maths and art and work in a school in North Lincolnshire.

Patricia Day

Area of Responsibility: Early Years Foundation Stage

Appointed: Co-opted governor 6th July 2022

Member of: Joint Committee and the Full Governing Body

I retired from teaching two years ago after having taught in the EYFS and Key Stage 1 for many years, my most recent role being EYFS lead in a large school in Mansfield for 18 years.

I have three grown up children, two grandchildren in the school and a baby granddaughter and dog who all keep me busy.

I have recently become a governor at Ordsall Primary School and am looking forward to supporting a great team in moving the school forward.

Janette Dobson

Area of responsibility: Training Governor

Appointed: Parent Governor 12th March 2020

Member of: Joint Committee and the Full Governing Body

I have been a Governor at Ordsall Primary for just over two years and look forward to continuing in this role. I have two children who currently attend the school, they are twins and are in year 5.

I am a Forensic Psychologist, working for the NHS. My role is based at Rampton High Secure Hospital but also sees me inputting into various prisons across the region.

Verna Elkington

Area of responsibility: Vice-Chair, Complaints and Finance

Appointed: Co-opted governor 10th November 2021

Member of: Joint Committee and the Full Governing Body

After working at the school for almost 30 years, I retired from my post of Business Manager at the end of the summer term 2021.  I realised that I still wanted to have a connection with the school and decided that becoming a Co-opted Governor was an ideal way of maintaining this connection and at the same time give me an opportunity to support the school in delivering a high quality education and helping every pupil become the best they can be.

Outside of school, I love spending time with my family, walking, reading and, since retirement, I am developing a passion for cooking although I don’t think you’ll see me on Masterchef any time soon!  I have two grown up children and four grandchildren.

Kerry Moss

Area of responsibility:

Appointed: Staff Governor 19th March 2018

Member of: Joint Committee and the Full Governing Body

I have worked in Primary Schools for over 25 years and have enjoyed the privilege of teaching in all year groups. I joined Ordsall Primary School in 2017 and during this time I have supported others with the development of provision, curriculum, teaching and learning across all phases. As part of my continuous professional development, I successfully completed the National award for Special Educational Needs Coordination in 2019. As Special Educational Needs Coordinator and Deputy Head Teacher I strive towards providing the very best education and care, meeting the individual needs of all children in an inclusive setting. Ordsall Primary School is a great place to learn with a dedicated and supportive team. I value the opportunity to contribute towards the ongoing growth of the school, working in partnership with our families, staff and governors.

Debra Perry

Governors are required to declare any interest they or their spouse, partner or close family members have, or plan to have that are related or might be construed as being related to the school and its budget.

These include (but are not limited to):

  • relevant business interests;
  • governance roles in other educational institutions; and
  • any material interests arising from relationships between board members or relationships between board members and school staff.

Sally Sumpter has indicated that she has carried out paid work for AQA, Hodder and Keynote Education. No other governor has made any such declaration. The governors are regularly reminded that they should declare any interest when they meet as a Joint Committee and Full Governing Body and this is recorded in the minutes.
