Year Group Curriculum Overview

At Ordsall Primary School, we believe it is important that parents and carers have a clear understanding of what children are learning throughout the year.

On this page, you will find an overview of the curriculum for each year group, organised by term:

  • Autumn Term
  • Spring Term
  • Summer Term

Each document outlines the key learning that will take place across subjects, giving you a clear picture of what your child will be taught and how learning builds over time.

For more detailed information about the specific knowledge taught in each subject, please visit the subject-specific pages within the curriculum section of our website.

How our curriculum is designed

Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure children:

  • know more, remember more and do more over time
  • build secure substantive knowledge (facts, concepts and vocabulary)
  • develop discriminatory knowledge (how to think and work within each subject discipline)

Learning is structured to revisit and build on prior knowledge, helping children make strong connections across subjects.

Working in partnership with parents

We encourage you to use these documents as a starting point for conversations with your child about their learning.

Talking about what children are learning, asking questions and showing an interest in their work can make a significant difference to their confidence and progress.

If you would like any further information about the curriculum, please speak to your child’s teacher.
