Reading and Celebrating

This week has been all about books and reading.  It was World Book Day on Thursday, and we celebrated our love of reading in many ways.  Year 1 and 2 received a visit to school from Retford Library.  We held a 'Create a Paper Plate Book Character' competition and the imagination and creativity was fantastic!  There were so many different characters that judging was a difficult task.  In addition to this, some of the staff went undercover as 'A Masked Reader'. You can view these videos in our Reading section of our website.

This week, we also celebrated another achievement.  Back in December 2025, some of our children entered a competition to design the side of a Re-Food truck.  Out of 4000 entries, a design from our school was selected as the winner.  This week, representatives from Re-Food visited the school to present prizes.  The newly designed truck also came to the site for us all to see. It is fantastic!  Huge congratulations to Olivia in Year 6.  Keep a look-out for the truck around Retford. It's already been spotted this week in Retford Town Centre.

Our Belonging Ambassadors were invited to Retford Oaks on Tuesday to watch their performance of Frozen Jnr.  It was a great production and especially wonderful to see some of our former pupils performing. Well done to everyone involved.

Congratulations to all of our Stars of the Week for proudly displaying our RESPECT values: Resilience, Effort, Support, Passion, Enrichment, Compassion and Teamwork.

Finally, congratulations to our attendance champions this week: Turner Class topped Phases 1 and 2 with a brilliant 99.0% attendance, and Mackintosh Class led the way in Phase 3, also with 99.6%.
