Vision and Values

Our Mission

At Ordsall Primary School, it is our mission to be a school community where everyone is supported and encouraged to 'be the best that they can be'.

Our Vision

To ensure that every child can achieve their full potential by enabling them to "Play, Learn and Grow Together"

This shared vision underpings everything we do as a school community.

Playing together will help us to:

  • develop curiosity of mind and spirit;
  • create, explore and discover;
  • adapt and cooperate;
  • learn, practise and master skills.

Learning together will help us to:

  • experience wider opportunities beyond the school;
  • develop essential skills, knowledge and understanding;
  • build character, resilience, confidence and independence;
  • communication and collaborate as part of a team;
  • apply learning across a broad, balanced, rich and exciting curriculum.

Growing together will help us to:

  • know that we all have the same rights and needs;
  • know what is right and wrong;
  • develop tolerance, acceptance and integrity;
  • inspire others and celebrate every achievement;
  • work together, in partnership, as a wider community of learners.

Our Values

Our RESPECT values reflect the way we work, behave and learn together. They guide our relationships, our learning and our expectations across school life and underpin our RESPECT Curriculum.

We want everyone at Ordsall Primary School to:

  • Be RESILIENT – persevere when things are challenging and learn from mistakes

  • Give EFFORT – try their best and take pride in their learning

  • Show SUPPORT – help others and ask for help when it is needed

  • Demonstrate PASSION – approach learning with curiosity, enthusiasm and purpose

  • Engage in ENRICHMENT – take part in opportunities that broaden experience and aspiration

  • Act with COMPASSION – show kindness, empathy and respect towards others

  • Use TEAMWORK – work cooperatively to achieve shared goals

Together, our vision and values help to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where children are empowered to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

The RESPECT Curriculum

Our RESPECT Curriculum brings our vision and values to life by teaching children how to understand themselves, build positive relationships, manage emotions, stay safe and contribute positively to the school community and wider society.

The RESPECT Curriculum incorporates:

  • our school values of Resilience, Effort, Support, Passion, Enrichment, Compassion and Teamwork

  • statutory Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)

  • explicit teaching about diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB)

  • British Values and Protected Characteristics

  • emotional regulation through approaches such as the Zones of Regulation

  • safeguarding education that responds to the contextual needs of our school community

Through the RESPECT Curriculum, pupils learn how to treat others with kindness and respect, recognise and manage their feelings, understand fairness and equality, and know how and when to seek help for themselves or others. This learning supports children to Play, Learn and Grow Together in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.

You can find out more about how the RESPECT Curriculum is taught and sequenced across school on our RESPECT Curriculum page.
